Ex parte pleadings are those pleadings that allow a party to communicate directly with the court without giving the other side prior notice.

This pleading is used to allow motions to be served and filed in fewer than the normally required number of days.

 

Removal Order

This pleading is used to bring a witness who is in custody to court.

 

Motion to Appoint Expert

It often takes an entire team to property defend a case. The defense team may include investigators, transcriptionists, medical experts, DNA experts, or other types of experts. This pleading is used to obtain funding for appointment of these experts.

 

Motion to Appoint Paralegal

This pleading is used to obtain funding for appointment of a paralegal. The Motion to Appoint Expert shown above may also be used to appoint a paralegal, but this motion has a section explaining the special value of having a paralegal.
